Abstract

This scoping review aims to summarize the existing literature on infection prevention and control (IPC) in long-term care facilities (LTCFs). LTCFs serve a population highly vulnerable to infectious diseases, and the importance of effective IPC practices in these settings has been highlighted, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this scoping review was to systematically identify and summarize the characteristics of IPC research conducted in LTCFs, including the study population, key IPC concepts, care settings, methodological approaches, and theoretical frameworks. Based on the population-concept-setting (PCC) framework and following the PRISMA-ScR guidelines, this review will provide an overview of research trends, identify gaps in the existing literature, and inform future research and practice related to IPC in long-term care settings.
