Prevalence of Dry Eye Disease Across Different Occupational Groups: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Abstract
Dry eye disease (DED) is a multifactorial ocular surface disease with increasing prevalence. While numerous studies have reported DED prevalence in the general population, the burden of disease varies significantly across different occupational environments and activities. This systematic review aims to synthesize existing evidence to estimate the prevalence of DED among specific occupational workforces (e.g., VDT workers, healthcare professionals, outdoor workers, and students), and to explore potential sources of heterogeneity related to occupational exposure.
