Acute effects of pushing versus holding isometric squats on countermovement jump kinetics
Abstract
The research project aims to compare the acute (3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 minutes) and delayed (6 hours) effects of pushing versus holding isometric squats on countermovement jump performance. Although isometric in nature (i.e., no lengthening or shortening of muscle but has tension), both pushing and holding isometric exercises operate through slightly different neuromuscular mechanisms. We aim to compare if there is any differential effects of these contractions.
