Abstract

Employers play a crucial role in enabling cancer survivors to stay at work during treatment or return to work thereafter. However, they often experience their role as complex and demanding and often lack the necessary knowledge and skills. Several employer-based interventions have been developed across European countries. Yet, a comprehensive overview of such interventions – including their components and effectiveness – is missing. This scoping review seeks to map these interventions by drawing from both peer-reviewed and grey literature and describing their core components and effectiveness. This will help identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for future intervention development aimed at enhancing work participation of cancer survivors. This scoping review has two main objectives: 1. To identify employer-based interventions aimed at enhancing the work participation of cancer survivors in European scientific and grey literature. 2. To describe these interventions, including their core components (e.g., theoretical foundation, mode of delivery) and effectiveness.
