Employee moral emotions about unethical organizational practice as a stressor moderated by ethical leadership (Study 1 post-registration)
Abstract
This project examined how employees react, when they perceive their organization has engaged in unethical practices. Further, the study aimed to: (a) examine whether guilt from unethical organization practices relate to mental health and attitudinal strains , and (b) test whether ethical leadership amplify or buffer those effects. Ultimately, the goal is to clarify when (and why) employees experience moral emotions, anger, shame, or contempt in response to organizational wrongdoing, and how those emotions translate into outcomes that matter for people and organizations (e.g., depression symptoms, psychological strain, affective commitment, turnover intentions, and psychological withdrawal). This is a post-registration for Study 1 of a two-part study.
