Cumulative Effect and Timing of Parental Mental Health on Adolescent Mental Health
Abstract
This project preregistration outlines a longitudinal investigation into the causal impact of cumulative exposure and timing of parental depressive symptoms on adolescent depressive symptoms using the Millennium Cohort Study (MCS). By employing Marginal Structural Models (MSM) with Inverse Probability of Treatment Weighting (IPTW), this study aims to account for both time-invariant and time-varying confounders to obtain high-quality evidence with substantially reduced bias.
