Abstract

This scoping review aims to map the existing literature on physical exercise protocols and their association with energy metabolism and inflammatory responses in eumenorrheic women of reproductive age. Specifically, it seeks to identify how menstrual cycle phases are considered and monitored in these interventions. The review follows the JBI methodology for scoping reviews and the PRISMA-ScR reporting guidelines. Searches were conducted in PubMed, Cochrane CENTRAL, Web of Science, BVS, and SciELO for clinical trials published between 2015 and 2025. Due to the high volume of retrieved records (n > 24,000), a hybrid screening strategy involving a team of eight reviewers and single-reviewer screening with cross-checking for inclusions was adopted. This protocol replaces a previous registration on PROSPERO, reflecting a methodological update from a systematic review to a scoping review.
