Traumatic closed floating finger injuries: management strategies and functional outcomes. A scoping review
Abstract
Traumatic floating finger injuries correspond to a rare pattern of hand trauma characterised by the loss of proximal and distal bone continuity of the same digital ray, resulting in significant instability and functional impairment. Despite their clinical relevance, there is no clear consensus on the optimal management strategy, especially in closed cases, and the available evidence is scattered and heterogeneous. In this context, it is necessary to systematically map the existing literature to understand the therapeutic approaches used and the functional outcomes reported.
