Abstract

This project corresponds to a systematic review conducted in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The objective of the review is to synthesize and compare life cycle assessment (LCA) studies evaluating anaerobic digestion and anaerobic co-digestion strategies for the treatment of pig manure/swine slurry, with a focus on environmental performance, methodological approaches, and digestate management pathways. The review includes peer-reviewed studies published between 2019 and 2025 and follows a systematic narrative synthesis approach due to methodological heterogeneity across studies.
