The effect of font size on financial decisions
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether font size affects people's decision behavior in financial decision situations, especially decisions involving selling and holding. We hypothesize that changes in font size will amplify or weaken the disposition effect by affecting the salience of price information. The disposition effect refers to the fact that when faced with the assets already held, people are more inclined to choose to sell the profit part and hold the loss part, which is manifested as loss avoidance. We assume that the decision maker's choice can be influenced by changing the salience of price information, such as emphasizing the benefits of selling (current price) or the costs of selling (original price).
