Memorability and Individual Differences
Abstract
Visual recognition memory shows remarkable consistency across observers, a phenomenon often attributed to image memorability, a stimulus-driven attribute intrinsic to the image. Yet, stable observer traits, such as psychosis proneness and global self-beliefs, are reliably associated with changes in response criteria, which can also affect recognition consistency across observers. Here, we examined how these factors influence performance on a continuous recognition memory task in which participants responded to the same repeated target face images.
