5.1 Increased awareness of whole-body participation and body-mind synergy
Abstract
This video documents the development of whole-body awareness and mind-body synergy in piano pedagogy. As part of a targeted intervention, students were asked a fundamental question: "Which parts of your body do you use to play the piano?" While young learners initially identified only their fingers or hands, this footage captures the gradual emergence of a broader physical and cognitive consciousness—developed through guided dialogue and intentional exercises over the course of several weeks. This video forms part of a broader research project investigating the development of coordinated movement in piano performance, with applications in piano pedagogy, injury prevention, and performance enhancement.
