7.2 Petervary™ smart piano ergonomic bench demonstrations
Abstract
These videos showcase the innovative Péterváry Smart Piano Bench, developed by Hungarian pianist and inventor Ádám Péterváry. Presented as a potential paradigm shift in piano seating, the bench represents a significant advancement in functional mechanics and ergonomic design.Unlike traditional static piano benches, this design incorporates a lateral gliding mechanism that allows the seat to move in synchrony with the performer. This mobility enables pianists to maintain a neutral spinal alignment and optimal joint positioning while navigating the extreme upper and lower registers of the keyboard. By accommodating natural whole-body movement, the Péterváry Smart Piano Bench aims to reduce physical strain, improve hand–arm alignment, and support sustained comfort during intensive practice and performance.Source: Péterváry Smart Piano Bench (https://petervary.com/pages/sliding-seatplate).
