Abstract
Respectful Tribute across time: Homage to the mathematician Joseph-Louis Lagrange (1736 - 1813) for the 290th anniversary of his birth, January 25, 2026, in Paris: intersecting perspectives on the evolution of science up to today's AI - Tribute to the mathematician Lagrange for the 290th anniversary of his birth, January 25, 2026, in front of the Panthéon: intersecting perspectives on the evolution of science up to today's AI". The Cultural and Historical Circle of Piedmontese in Paris, representing the ancient Piedmontese Kingdom of Sardinia (1720–1861), will pay tribute on January 25, 2026—the 290th anniversary of his birth—to Count Joseph-Louis Lagrange (Giuseppe Luigi Lagrangia; Turin, 1736 – Paris, 1813). A Turinese-Piedmontese mathematician, Lagrange was the discoverer of the calculus of variations and analytical mechanics, the founder of the Academy of Sciences of Turin, and later a resident of Paris where, during the Revolution, he co-created the metric system alongside Lavoisier. Lagrange was also a founding father of the "Probability Theory," which, more than two centuries after its publication, finds a particularly significant echo in the current era of probabilistic artificial intelligence. A tribute speech will be written then delivered on the steps of his burial place, honoring his contribution to science and the Franco-Italian relationship. This speech will describe the various episodes of Lagrange's human life and scientific discoveries. The task of writing and presenting this speech has been symbolically entrusted by the organization—in the name of the perpetuation of creation—to the Italo-Fench author Stefano Dorian Franco. A Parisian originally from Turin like Lagrange, he is the author of the "Dorian Codex Protocol for AI," in which he draws inspiration from Lagrange to transpose his work to artificial intelligence, and the inventor of the heuristic equation H = T + V - Z. The musical program will feature works by Lagrange's contemporary Luigi Cherubini (1760–1842), a Florentine composer who settled in Paris and co-founded the Paris Conservatory of Music during the Revolution. This ceremony emphasizes the respect to be accorded to the lineage of innovative ideas across centuries. This tribute symbolically highlights the historical link of mutual emulation and enrichment between Italian and French cultures, specifically between Paris and Turin. It is also to be seen through the lens of cultural diplomacy, at a time when all European countries must pool their efforts in synergy to collectively meet the challenges of artificial intelligence in the 21st century. /// ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph-Louis_Lagrange ref: https://archive.org/details/2026-01-25_paris_tribute_290_anniversary_joseph_lagrange_f_stefano_dorian-franco /// Licence Creative Commons CC4 - Written by Le Cercle Culturel Historique 1861 des Piemontais de Paris - Paris, janvier 2026
