Abstract

Coral reef ecosystems are extremely sensitive to changes in environmental conditions, especially sea-surface temperature. Although the content and distribution of lipids in modern corals are known to be temperature-sensitive, the quantitative relationship between temperature and various lipid compounds has not been systematically investigated to date. Here, we provide the temperature sensitivity of the distributions and concentrations of fatty acids (FAs) and sterols in scleractinian corals from Weizhou Island.
