Abstract

This dataset contains anonymized trial-level eye-tracking data and analysis scripts from a study investigating how pragmatic competence modulates real-time inference of counterfactual emotions in Mandarin Chinese. The data files provide trial-level reading-time measures together with subject IDs, item IDs, and experimental condition codes (emotion × consistency). The accompanying R scripts were used to compute descriptive statistics, generate plots, and fit linear mixed-effects models and correlation analyses reported in the associated article “Pragmatic competence modulates real-time inference of counterfactual emotions: Eye-tracking evidence from Mandarin Chinese”.
