Abstract

Malnutrition among children persists as a significant public health concern in India, contributing substantially to under-five mortality. Despite ongoing national and global efforts, undernutrition and micronutrient deficiencies persist. Maternal health, education, and socioeconomic status are key determinants of child nutrition. Understanding the spatial distribution and underlying determinants of malnutrition is critical for designing region-specific interventions. This study examines the determinants of under-five malnutrition and their spatial variations across Indian districts, employing data derived from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5).
