The Use of Acoustic Indices to Investigate Avian Biodiversity in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, Ukraine.xlsx
Abstract
The accompanying data and code are provided for the research project titled “The Use of Acoustic Indices to Investigate Avian Biodiversity in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, Ukraine.” Included in this are: acoustic indices calculated for the full dataset (3456 files), acoustic indices calculated for the reduced dataset (1997 files) and the R code used for analysis. This study aimed to assess avian biodiversity by calculating acoustic indices from audio recordings collected within the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. The objective was to identify which environmental and temporal variables significantly influenced patterns in avian acoustic activity. To achieve this, a Generalised Linear Mixed Model (GLMM) was applied to four distinct acoustic indices. The model evaluated the influence of the following variables:Total estimated absorbed dose rateTime of dayRecording MonthHabitat typeA README file has been provided to support the acoustic indices datasets.
