Soil respiration, soil fluxes, and ambient mixing ratios of isoprene and its oxidation products measured at the ATTO site (2022-2024)
Abstract
This dataset contains soil respiration (soil CO₂ emission flux), as well as soil fluxes, soil deposition velocities, ambient mixing ratios, and ambient concentrations measured for isoprene and its oxidation products. Soil fluxes were measured using an automated closed dynamic soil flux measuring system consisting of an infrared gas analyzer (LI-870, Licor Inc., Lincoln, NA, USA; for CO2 fluxes measurement), an 8-port multiplexer (LI-8250, Licor Inc., Lincoln, NA, USA), and four dynamic soil flux chambers (LI 8200-104 Long-Term Chambers with opaque lids, Licor Inc., Lincoln, NA, USA). The system was adapted for measurements of isoprene and isoprene oxidation products (IsoOP, comprising the sum of methacrolein, methyl vinyl ketone, and isoprene hydroxy hydroperoxides) by connecting, via a T-piece, the inlet of a proton transfer reaction mass spectrometer (PTR-MS) to the outflow of the LI-8250. Ambient concentrations/mixing ratios of isoprene and its oxidation products were measured from the soil chambers with open lids during the last minute of the pre-purge. Deposition velocity was calculated as the ratio of the measured soil flux and the ambient concentration. Data were collected in 9 field campaigns conducted between May 2022 and May 2024.
