The Space and Condition of the Post-Dominican Manors in Metow and Trzesniow at the Time of Their Transfer to the Treasury of the Kingdom of Poland in 1865
Abstract
The article discusses the most important issues related to the functioning of the manors in the villages of Trzesniow and Metow near Lublin, which belonged to the convent of the Dominican Fathers in Lublin until 1864 and in that year passed to the administration of the Treasury Board of the Kingdom of Poland. Considerable attention was paid to the space and boundaries of the granges, as well as to the analysis and presentation of their historical area on a contemporary map. For this purpose, the first maps of the manor lands drawn up in 1866–1867 were used. Economic and financial issues were characterized within the framework of such issues as manor buildings, livestock and dead stock, manor servants. The detailed discussion of all matters related to the functioning of the Metow and Trzesniow manor emphasizes its historical role for the daily functioning of the Lublin Dominican convent, and is of contemporary importance for understanding and protecting the cultural landscape.
