Abstract

This article explores selected place names in the Lublin region that are featured in the encyclopaedic dictionary entitled Nazwy miejscowe Polski. Historia. Pochodzenie. Zmiany (Place Names in Poland: History, Origin, Changes). The author discusses the findings presented in the publication and offers a polemical take on the analysis provided for some of the place names in the Lublin Voivodeship. The controversy concerns the source documentation for the place names, etymological interpretations, and certain other historical findings. The article examines the following place names: Bełżec, Biłgoraj, Frampol, Kryłów, Lubycza Królewska, Nabróż, Wola Machnowska, and Wola Żurawiecka.
