Abstract

Turobin was the key centre and an important hub for craft production of the Zamoyski Family Entail. In the analysed period, the city gained new development opportunities, although the different profitability of individual branches of production and the intensification of elementary disasters have deepened the wealth disparity of guild masters. This phenomenon was accompanied by an intensification of competition from the court and cottage crafts, as well as Jewish crafts. The population of Jews, supported especially by Tomasz Zamoyski, increased two and a half times. Thanks to his well-thought-out economic policy, the Turobin centre experienced a real boom. A lot suggests that after the death of the 2nd entailee, especially in the 1640s, the conditions for conducting production activities deteriorated, fiscalism intensified and, as observed in the analysed period, the wealth polarisation of Turobin masters has progressed.
