Medical education in India – a rapidly evolving framework for the future

To advance further, there is a critical need for accelerated CBME implementation, supported by robust faculty development programs. Moreover, competency-based assessment is encouraged by the NMC as it is the assessment for learning. Incorporating cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence and virtual simulations, into both the teaching and assessment processes could revolutionize medical training by enhancing experiential learning and clinical decision-making. Ethical values and communication skills should not be confined to the AETCOM module alone but need to be woven throughout the curriculum to better prepare future healthcare professionals for the complexities of modern practice. This approach not only fosters clinical competence but also cultivates the compassion and empathy necessary for effective healthcare delivery.
