Correlation of HbA1c with simple lipid ratios (TG/HDL-C and TC/HDL-C) in type 2 diabetes mellitus
Abstract
Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) reflects long-term glycemic control and is closely linked to cardiovascular risk in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). Dyslipidemia, a frequent metabolic abnormality in T2DM, further amplifies this risk. Simple lipid ratios such as Triglyceride to High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) and total cholesterol to HDL-C (TC/HDL-C) have emerged as practical markers of atherogenic dyslipidemia. This short communication examines the association between HbA1c and these lipid ratios, highlighting their potential utility in routine clinical practice.
