Unveiling the unexpected: An incidental radiographic revelation of unicystic ameloblastoma- A case report and literature insight
Abstract
Ameloblastoma is a slow growing, yet persistent and locally aggressive odontogenic epithelial neoplasm, accounting to around 10% of all odontogenic tumors. Renowned researcher H.M. Worth identified four distinct radiographic variants for ameloblastoma, with the commonest form noted to be the unicystic form typically presenting as a unilocular radiolucency. This case reports a 25-year-old male patient who presented with a complaint of food entrapment due to partially erupted teeth in the lower right posterior region, which persisted for 2-3 months. This case report stresses the critical role of panoramic radiography and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in the accurate diagnosis and effective management of such tumors, evidencing how advanced imaging can disclose the complexities of these challenging lesions.
