Abstract

Phytosomal gel formulations represent a breakthrough in topical drug delivery, enhancing the Solvation capacity, Consistency, and Absorption efficiency of plant-derived bioactive compounds. By forming phospholipid-phytochemical complexes, phytosomes improve therapeutic efficacy and controlled release of active ingredients. These formulations excel in treating cutaneous disorders like aging, wounds, and inflammation, leveraging nanosize characteristics for superior skin penetration and sustained release. Key benefits include potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal activities. Advancements in Phytosomal gel technology focus on optimized preparation methods, such as anti-solvent precipitation and solvent ether-injection processes, alongside precise characterization through spectroscopy and microscopy. These gels not only enhance pharmacological performance but also improve patient compliance through ease of application and prolonged effects. Challenges, including stability, scalability, and regulatory hurdles, persist. Future research aims to address these using nanotechnology and personalized medicine, positioning phytosomal gels as a promising innovation in efficient and advanced dermatological treatments.
