Acute urinary retention following iTIND placement in a 61-year-old male with benign prostatic enlargement: A case report
Abstract
Symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia is a common urological condition affecting older men, leading to a multitude of lower urinary tract symptoms. Despite the presence of multiple surgical management options, the Temporarily Implanted Nitinol Device (iTIND) is gaining popularity and acceptance owing to its ability to offer symptom control without any negative impact on sexual function. We report a 61-year-old male that developed an unusual acute urinary retention following an uneventful iTIND placement. This case also highlights the management aspect of such an uncommon postoperative event following iTIND placement.
