High-Fidelity Conjugate Heat Transfer as an Educational Tool for Engineering Technology Student
Abstract
Integrating computational fluid dynamics (CFD) into engineering technology curricula has proven to be a transformative pedagogical approach. This strategy significantly enhances student's ability to comprehend intricate fluid mechanics concepts. This study delves into using high-fidelity conjugate heat transfer (CHT) simulations as an educational resource to enhance student's understanding of fluid mechanics, particularly with boundary layer thickness. This work illustrates a comprehensive approach to integrating CHT simulations into undergraduate engineering technology programs, emphasizing their capacity to clarify the interaction between thermal and fluid dynamics. The paper highlights CFD as a revolutionary educational tool, paving the way for more dynamic and impactful teaching methods in engineering technology programs. Results reveal that student's who interact with CHT simulations demonstrate significantly enhanced comprehension of fluid mechanics concepts compared to traditional teaching approaches.
