Abstract

An analysis of the ICAO regulatory documentation is conducted regarding equivalent acoustic certification procedures for propeller-driven aircraft with a maximum takeoff mass of less than 8,618 kg. Equivalent acoustic certification procedures are proposed for a family of light propeller-driven aircraft when modifying the power plant. These modifications involve altering or installing new piston engine exhaust mufflers or making minor changes in the propeller diameter (no more than 5%) and the number of blades (by 1 unit) while maintaining the flight performance characteristics of the modified aircraft. Promising directions for acoustic certification based on «digital twins» of light propeller-driven aircraft with electric or hybrid power plants are also considered.
