Safety and feasibility of totally thoracoscopic ablation for atrial fibrillation after transcatheter atrial septal defect closure
Abstract
Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) is the standard treatment for atrial fibrillation (AF).However, if a transcatheter atrial septal defect (ASD) closure has been performed previously, RFCA becomes more complex and challenging. This is because the deployed occluder interferes with the access of the ablation catheter to the left atrium.Through this study, we aim to propose that totally thoracoscopic ablation is a feasible treatment option for AF, even after a transcatheter ASD closure.
