Abstract
Purpose of the study: The study aims to find the impact of PCOS on infertility among women. Thus, the study is based on the question: What are the effects of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome on the increasing infertility among women of reproductive age and the social problems faced by the patients of the disease? Methodology: A scoping review was conducted using Arksey and O’Malley’s (2005) method to generate the results. A six-stage model was employed, and the PRISMA (2020) guidelines were followed to conduct the literature search. Three databases: Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar were utilised. The thematic analysis of the results is discussed. Main Findings: The results can be divided into three themes. The first theme highlights PCOS as an important determinant of infertility. The second theme presents that PCOS-related infertility has an impact on the quality of health of women in the form of depression, anxiety, anger, etc. The third theme highlights the remedies, such as surgical, non-surgical, and drug-based treatment, to cure infertility and reduce the impact of PCOS on infertility. Application: The study's results can be used to raise women's awareness of PCOS. Remedies identified through the given study can be used as a cure for women with PCOS. Novelty of this study: The study employs a scoping review methodology. PCOS is identified as the leading cause of infertility among women. It suggests that it has an impact beyond physical health, also affecting mental health. The study examines the skewed nature of the author’s focus.
