Numerical Analysis of Fatigue Behavior of Glass-Fiber Reinforced Polymers (GFRP) Plate under Fully-reversed Variable Loads with Room Temperature Conditions
Abstract
In this study, Numerical analysis of fatigue behavior of Glass-Fiber Reinforced Polymers (GFRP) plate under Variable Amplitude Loads with room temperature conditions. Finite element analysis is used to study the fatigue performance of Glass-fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) plates under variable amplitude loading. It follows that one of the three types of unnotched specimens being tested, namely GFRP, is from the progressive fatigue damage model for Glass-Fiber Reinforced Polymers (GFRP). Three laminate configurations, as cross-ply [0/90]₄s, angle-ply [±45]₄s, and quasi-isotropic [0/±45/90]₂s, are checked by this approach under constant and variable amplitude test regimes. Key findings reveal that the [±45]₄s laminate has excellent fatigue properties under tension-tension loading (R=0.1): 2.3 times longer life than the cross-ply configuration. The quasi-isotropic configuration exhibits equal fatigue resistance under fully reversed loading. Experimental data verification also showed that fatigue-life predictions from FEA had a mean error of 12%. For the design of GFRP reinforcements in infrastructure, aeronautics, and wind turbines, this is a highly useful result. With structures that are both cyclically and cyclically loaded like this, traditional engineering. It's also good news because sequence-dependent damage accumulation may yield more accurate life predictions than traditional linear approaches.
