Abstract

The issue of radioactive waste disposal becomes crucial amidst the active development of nuclear energy. Modern technologies lead to the accumulation of large volumes of highly active heat-emitting materials that require reliable and safe disposal methods. Protecting ecosystems and populations from potential consequences becomes a top priority. One of the most promising methods for handling radioactive waste is isolation in deep geological formations. However, selecting suitable sites for disposal requires a comprehensive analysis that takes into account modern geodynamic processes. The aim of the study is to assess the geodynamic stability of potential sites for radioactive waste disposal using modern geodynamic zoning methods and systems analysis. Special attention is paid to the "Yeniseisky" site, characterized by a complex tectonic environment. The research methodology includes the application of mathematical modeling, analysis of the stress-deformed state of rocks, interpretation of GNSS observation data, and other geophysical studies. These methods allow obtaining a detailed picture of the geodynamic processes occurring in the studied area. The authors have conducted a detailed analysis of the stress-deformed state and kinematic characteristics of the tectonic blocks at the "Yeniseisky" site. The research revealed important geodynamic features: the presence of zones of local instability and the relative stability of the main site, confirmed by a map of the integral measure of geodynamic safety. The constructed map demonstrates the spatial variability of stability parameters and helps identify the most promising areas for radioactive waste disposal. The obtained results emphasize the need for a comprehensive approach in selecting sites for radioactive waste disposal. They also highlight the importance of further developing geodynamic zoning methods to improve prediction accuracy and ensure the long-term safety of nuclear power facilities. The study findings have significant practical value for designing and operating structures related to radioactive material management, ensuring both ecological and engineering safety. This is particularly relevant for regions with high tectonic activity, where risks may be significantly higher.
