Abstract
J.F Skinner is one of the inventors of the learning theory of behaviourism, He said that that learning process is not only in intelligence or cognition but more dominant in the behaviour or attitude. This article describes the application of Skinner's theory in improving students' attitudes and behaviours, especially in moral education. The research method is an experiment with a posttest-only design. The research was carried out in 2022/2023, with the sample of research being 91 undergraduate students of the mathematics education study program UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The research was carried out in the odd semester of 2022/2023, with a research sample of 91 students of the mathematics education study program. The study results show that learning by applying J.F Skinner's theory can improve students' understanding of the cognitive aspect, based on the test results, a score of 82%. In other words, students understand the concept and theory of morality well. Meanwhile, the aspect of attitude can be shown through presentations and individual tasks. Undergraduate students can provide real examples of their behaviour related to morals and are able to reflect on themselves about their morals in 1-day activities. The conclusion of this study shows that J.F. Skinner's theory is still effectively applied to learning to enhance of undergraduate students’ understanding and character, especially in moral education courses. However, the lecture process is still dominated by cognitive learning, so it is recommended to apply J.F. Skinner's theory to learning that is dominated by attitudes or character.
