Rysowane słowem. Forma wyrazu w korespondencji Józefa Czapskiego do Stanisława Vincenza
Abstract
The article deals with the subject of the complex creative identity of Józef Czapski, an artist working parallelly in the fields of painting and literature (especially personal writings). Particular focus is placed on the intermedia nature of his writings – an individual collage of words and images (drawings and paintings) – that is the junction of his two basic artistic activities. The text presents ways in which these activities permeate each other, creating a unique form of expression in which image and words are equal elements of cognition. The pretext for these considerations was Czapski’s correspondence with Stanisław Vicenz, representing the aforementioned synthesis of perceptions and artistic expression. Fragments of this correspondence come from an as-yet-unpublished collection.
