The textography of the videopoem. Poetic texts and their variants in transmedial practice
Abstract
This article explores videopoems rooted in versology and visuality, considering how poetic forms are remediated across intermedial contexts. It introduces the concept of palimpsestic textography – a method for analysing poetic language in motion, where verse ceases to be static and is instead activated through sound, image, and spatial rhythm. The analysis centres on two works: Hopscotch by Tom Konyves and Jedna ziemia / One Earth, based on a poem by Stanisław Młodożeniec, which together reveal how word, line, and cadence operate across media. The framework defines four analytical categories: “text-as-event”, which conceives the poem as a temporal and performative process; “authorial orchestration”, where creators direct the interplay of expressive layers; “shifting subjectivity”, describing how lyrical voice traverses intermedial expression; and “semiotic autonomy”, highlighting the distinct roles of each medium in shaping meaning. Together, these categories offer a new lens on poetic remediation, presenting verse not as a closed form, but as an open, fluid convergence of expressive modes.
