Abstract

What remains inapprehensible in Saussure’s work thatkeeps on producing theoretical impasse, effects and displacement? What insists on returning and not being inscribed from this radical experience? Throughout this paper, we intend to pursue and support the hypothesis that the concept of lalangue can affect the understanding of structural linguistics backwards, since it allows a return to Saussure’s Course in General Linguistics in a way we can understand the language no longer as a stable object, but as something that functions based on a non-whole logic. In order to do so, we proposed a return to Saussure’s thoughts, based on the reading of Milner, Gadet and Pêcheux to reflect upon the linguists’ work which inscribes itself in this space of the impossible (the impossible correspondence between terms) that produces signification. It’s precisely in/through science that the non-whole constitutes itself in what it encloses and borders.
