A mulher no idioma
Abstract
In this paper, from the theoretical perspective of Discourse Analysis in conjunction with the History of Linguistic Ideas, we examine how dictionaries from the 18th to the 20th centuries elaborated definitions for both “man” and “woman” and fixed meanings, situating the woman in the private space (of the house) and the man in the public space (of the street). We also analyze how The SlutWalk movement attempts to re-update those meanings fixed in linguistic instruments, demonstrating that women can occupy places other than that of the house.
