Abstract

Through a discursive analysis, the present article aims toarticulate the concepts of discourse, sense, subject and body. Therefore, different materials were selected with the objective of considering how, in the discourse of genetic engineering, the sense of manipulation of the body merges and muddles with the sense of full “control” and “governance” (related to technology) and with the fabrication of an object (related to the Market). In addition, we seek to understand how the sense of “human genome” is produced as thefundamental text that confers unity to the humanity on the face of the rupture between modes of subjectivation and traditional narratives.
