Abstract

This article aims to analyze, in light of the concepts of social capital and intellectual capital, the discourses of the team involved in the implementation of the Solar-Powered Water Supply and Pumping Systems regarding the diffusion of this technology in the Middle Solimões River region. In an action research, a focus group and individual in-depth interviews were conducted to collect data analyzed according to content analysis. Within the scope of social capital, citations related to the creation and employment of personal relationships predominated, while within the scope of intellectual capital, the emphasis was on the creation of this capital. The social capital of team members was used in attempts to disseminate the technology, but strategies based on the mobilization of individual networks have not ensured the multiplication of the technology on a large scale. Defining agreements and responsibilities can provide better results and prevent that political turnover does not compromise the diffusion of the technology in the region.
