“Montevideo se mueve”
Abstract
This paper proposes keys to thinking about policies that seek to promote an active life in the city. It works with the discourses of the slogan “Montevideo se mueve” of the Intendencia de Montevideo, where the encouragement of physical activity in public spaces is supported by the understood demand of citizens for spaces equipped for this practice. The promotion of active life through the media, the intervention to generate environments conducive to physical activity in the city, as well as street races, reflect a particular way of understanding contemporary governmentality. This discourse confuses the figure of the citizen with the people and the individual.
