A Study on the Categorial Characteristics and Meanings of Korean Numeral Determiners for Korean Language Education

This study aims to analyze the categorial characteristics and meanings of numeral determiners. It examines these characteristics and, on this basis, further analyzes meanings within descriptive categories. Numeral determiners in Korean can be broadly classified into number-related meanings and deixis-related meanings. These meanings are further differentiated according to communicative context, expressing either specific or non-specific references to the following nominal elements. This study contributes to facilitating language acquisition by comparing Korean with the linguistic systems of learners’ native languages. In addition, it helps to clarify semantic distinctions among similar grammatical items in Korean and supports the teaching of their actual pragmatic usage.
