Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to translate the Situational Emotional Response Scale (ERES) into Korean and evaluate its psychometric properties among Korean nursing students. Methods: A total of 430 nursing students who had completed at least one clinical practicum participated in this study. Data were collected online between June 5 and July 28, 2025, using convenience sampling through the Korean Nursing Student Association. A forward–backward translation process was conducted, followed by expert review for content validity using the Content Validity Index. Item analysis, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and assessments of convergent, discriminant, and concurrent validity were performed. Concurrent validity was evaluated by correlating the Korean ERES (K-ERES) with the Korean Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (K-WLEIS). Internal consistency reliability was examined using Cronbach’s alpha. Results: EFA identified a five-factor structure with 21 items, explaining 64.70% of the total variance. CFA supported the five-factor model, and after removing two items with low loadings, the final 19-item model demonstrated good fit (χ²/df=1.87, GFI=0.89, NFI=0.87, IFI=0.94, TLI=0.92, CFI=0.94, RMR=0.03, RMSEA=0.06). The K-ERES showed a significant positive correlation with the K-WLEIS (r=0.61, p
