Abstract

This paper presents and validates a methodology for the evaluation of teaching initiatives based on the use of Information Technologies and Communication. The methodological proposal is based on the application of ad hoc indicators to evaluate and examine the technology coherence, the project implementation, resulting products and their dissemination, as well as the geography university students’ learning process. The designed methodology is validated through a teaching innovation experience based on the production of a set of videos in polymedia format called Geographical training pills. Interesting results are extracted from the methodology implementation. In one hand, the coherence of the applied indicators, their easy interpretation and suitability for the examination of the teaching innovation experience based on Information Technologies and Communication. On the other hand, results of the project evaluation corroborate the usefulness of the training pills in the teaching-learning process. Notwithstanding, the discussion addresses some limitations and shortcomings related to the technology used. Further, a reflection on the viability of the methodology proposed, as well as the challenge of completing it with a multi-approach evaluation is discussed.
