Vitaly Ivanovich Mamleev. Curriculum vitae (1928)
Abstract
We publish a curriculum vitae of the legal historian and psychologist V.I. Mamleev (1902–194?), father of the writer Yu.V. Mamleev (1931–2015). The life and scientific works of V.I. Mamleev, which have not yet been studied, are of interest in the context of the rapid changes that took place in the domestic humanities in the 1920s. The article, which precedes the publication of archival material, based on various sources, including rare and unpublished, provides a general description of the scientist’s position, expressed by him during the discussion of the problems of the genesis and development of thinking, the impetus for which was the ideas of the French philosopher and anthropologist L. Lévy-Bruhl (1857–1939). In addition, the researcher’s contribution to the discussion of the compatibility of Freudianism and Marxism in the humanities is revealed. One of its main participants and supporter of the rapprochement of the two approaches was M.A. Reisner (1868–1928), the supervisor of V.I. Mamleev’s research work at the time when he was a postgraduate student at the Institute of Scientific Philosophy. In this way, we reconstruct the intellectual portrait of the scientist and outline the contours of his own research position. V.I. Mamleev saw the practical continuation and development of his theoretical and methodological considerations in the study of the traditional law of individual peoples in its connection with religious ideas. V.I. Mamleev accompanied his project, sent to the anthropological department of the Timiryazev Institute (nothing is known about its implementation at the moment), with the curriculum vitae offered to the reader’s attention.
