Abstract

Review introduces the reader to the main content of the book written by the Russian researcher of the history of “Russian political idealism”, as well as various aspects of Marxist and socialist thought, famous publisher of texts on Russian philosophy Modest Alekseevich Kolerov. Pointing out the identified shortcomings both in the methodology of of the book and in the style of presentation inherent in the author, the reviewer concludes that it is not possible to perceive M.A. Kolerov’s work as an unbiased study (with the exception of some fragments). Despite interesting questions, the publication of archival materials, and awareness of the availability of relevant research on the ideological history of Russian emigration, the author has not been able to overcome his own subjective attitudes, likes, and dislikes that manifest themselves in the text. Noting the fragmentary nature of the study, due to the fact that the chapters of the book are previously published articles, the reviewer separately highlights the inherent shortcomings of the work. The review pays special attention to the image of I.A. Ilyin created by the author, which is ready to be supported by professional historians of philosophy in the research environment.
