Abstract

The material is a bibliographic collection dedicated to the topic “Russian philosophy and Islam” and consists of two parts devoted to Russian Islamic philosophy and a kind of “meeting” of Russian philosophical thought and Islamic culture. The main purpose of this list is to familiarize the reader with the corpus of literature reflecting Muslim intellectual culture in Russia, primarily in its philosophical dimension. The publications presented a wide range of topics: from polemical and research writings reflecting the relationship between Islam and Christianity, to philosophical treatises and studies by representatives of Tatar, Bashkir and Dagestan thought. A separate block is occupied by works that reveal the inner dynamics of Islamic rationalism, hermeneutics and law. The bibliography also includes texts on the reception of Islam by Russian thinkers – Solovyov, Khomyakov, Chaadaev, Rozanov, Berdyaev. Through the selection of the above–mentioned literature, an attempt is being made to capture a holistic picture of the formation of the Islamic philosophical tradition in Russia – a picture in which Islam acts as a full-fledged component of the national intellectual history. In this context, this set serves not only as a reference tool for initial orientation in the topic, but also as a basis for further study of the relationship between Russian and Islamic philosophy, as well as the processes of reception, rethinking and development of Muslim thought in the historical and philosophical space of Russia. It should be noted that this bibliographic compendium is the first attempt to systematize an extensive and diverse corpus of sources devoted to Russian Islamic philosophy, so it only outlines the basis for further work in this direction and, of course, does not pretend to be exceptionally comprehensive coverage of the material, some of which still resides in archives, rare editions and little-studied collections.
