Abstract

Kuwait oil Company (KOC) produces hydrocarbon gas from the Jurassic reservoir in Sabriya, which is sour in nature (with hydrogen sulfide, H2S). Majority of the gas is consumed by power plants in Kuwait for domestic power generation. Power plants require sweet gas (free of H2S1 H2S < 10 ppmv) to operate. The most common way to reduce H2S content in the gas is to treat the gas with amine solvent, which is done in a gas sweetening unit (GSU). To process this gas and make it ready for export, the gas is treated in Jurassic Production Facility – Sabriya (JPF-SA).
