Abstract

As part of the long-standing commitment to its employees and the communities it serves in, the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) has taken significant steps to institutionalize Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) across its operations. NBK's DEI strategy is driven by a clear set of business and human capital priorities: Increase recruitment and retention of women in leadership and STEM roles.Diversify succession pipelines to ensure inclusive leadership development.Enhance NBK's employment brand to attract diverse talent.Establish a DEI Leadership Council to oversee strategy and accountability. These priorities reflect NBK's belief that diversity drives innovation, improves decision-making, and strengthens organizational resilience. As part of the DEI initiatives, NBK launched a landmark initiative, setting a strong example of corporate-led women empowerment, NBK RISE. This pioneering initiative exemplifies corporate-led women's empowerment in leadership positions. The Program integrates leadership development, strategic partnerships, and institutional pledges to advance gender equity within these roles. The program aims to prepare high-potential women for executive leadership, foster inclusive mindsets across organizations, and build a sustainable network of female leaders who will drive long-term cultural transformation within NBK and its partner institutions.
