Abstract

Political Humanism is a contemporary moral philosophy and governance theory that integrates ethics, institutional design, and macroeconomic reasoning around a single evaluative principle: the maximisation of human flourishing. Departing from the traditional left-right ideological spectrum, Political Humanism begins with an analysis of the individual's relationship to society and the state, derives a normative obligation to maximise collective well-being, and operationalises this obligation through a structured set of measurable outcomes-the Human Wellbeing Indices (HWix12). Situating itself within the humanist and utilitarian traditions, and drawing on contemporary capability-based and wellbeing-oriented approaches to political evaluation, Political Humanism is presented here as a post-ideological framework for democratic governance in the twenty-first century. The paper outlines the philosophical foundations of the framework, its institutional implications, and its relevance to ongoing debates in political philosophy, governance theory, and political economy.
